Through careful estate planning, such as through a will or a trust, you can choose how your estate will be distributed after you die. Without the planning, your assets will be distributed in accordance with the Texas “intestacy” statute. In addition to a will, an estate plan may include any of the following:
- Revocable Trusts
- Powers of Attorney
- Property Ownership Designations (such as joint tenancy with right of survivorship)
- Beneficiary Designations
- Advanced Directives to Physicians (Living Will)
